In celebration of Black History Month, Ivan Allen College, Office of the Dean presented a panel discussion on African Societies in Development. Moderator, Georgia A. Persons, School of Public Policy, made introductions. Panelists and their topics included: Ruth Uwaifo Oyelere, Assistant Professor of Economics, who spoke on "Critical Economic Development Issues for Africa in the 21st century; " Michael Best, Assistant Professor, School of International Affairs who spoke on “Information Technologies and Development Change in Africa;" and Jumbe Sebunya, Senior Advisor, CARE International/USA who spoke on "Challenges of Managing Change in Support of Development in Africa." A newly chartered organization, GT - IDEA (Initiative for Development and Education in Africa), was introduced by Georgia Tech student Karan Chopra. Sue V. Rosser, Dean of Ivan Allen College gave concluding remarks.
