Georgia Tech’s School of Computational Science and Engineering hosted a distinguished lecture by Alan Edelman, professor of Applied mathematics and member of MIT's computer science and AI lab, held Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Klaus Advanced Computing Building.
Edelman's lecture, What makes the programming language Julia special?, showcases the programming language's ability to solve the two language problem that states that users should not have to switch from a high level language to a low level, or parallel, or GPU language in order to gain performance. This talk demonstrates Julia with examples from mathematics, machine learning, HPC style computing, and GPU style computing.
