Drones have dramatically changed how stories are shown and told in today’s media. Not only do UAS (drones) provide unique angles and views of interesting stories, UAV dovetails perfectly into any journalist’s toolkit. It is important for storytellers to not only understand the regulatory aspects of flight laid out by the FAA, but also be aware of privacy rights and other considerations. This session briefly covers regulations and privacy applications while the meat of the session revolves around getting the best angles, understanding best practices on-site, and how to get the media from the drone to final delivery. Drone footage from recent media stories will be demonstrated at this session, in addition to having current drone models available for attendees to observe first-hand.
