This presentation will provide an overview of the structure of the EVPR office, including key offices and personnel. An overview of strategic research areas identified by the faculty and administration will be provided, along with the roles of Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (IRIs). The processes employed by the Office of the EVPR for building interdisciplinary research teams to pursue large externally funded programs such as centers and training grants, as well as the ‘limited submission process,’ whereby nominees or proposals are chosen from a pool of internal candidates due to sponsor limitations on the number of applications, will be explained. Finally, the institute’s connections to other units within the University System of Georgia, as well as recent investments by industry in and around campus, will be highlighted.
